Joan Baez, Diamonds and Rust – Live, 1975
now you’re telling me you’re not nostalgic then give me another word for it you who are so good with words and at keeping things vague because I need some of that vagueness now it’s all come back too clearly yes I loved you dearly and if you’re offering me diamonds and rust I’ve already paid

Words between two people. Memories that flash into the present like lightning. It takes some living, some time, and a once in a lifetime relationship, to create the stage for this kind of song. The presentation is phenomenal and will stop the casual listener in thier tracks. If you love, or hate this song, chances are you have either had, or longed for, this kind of deperate love. Memories do bring Dimonds and Rust.

What a beautiful song, I discovered it from Judas Priest. I did not realize they had changed it that much, a true cover.

@KwiteButtery yeah i agree that was reckless to post such an observation. that’s just how my mind works like a runaway train and i forgot to respect the rights of others to not have religious ideas shoved in their face. like right now… i’m not enjoying the statement you made but… that is turnabout fair play and illustrates your point well. so my bad… &… okay i’m sorry. thanks for calling me out and keeping me in line. idiot!? hummm… I get Psycho mostly. Peace butterylicious one.

@suprflawd ummmm god doesn’t exist and i think you’re an idiot for assuming everyone else in the world should know “gods will”

I first leaned of Joan Baez through the Judas Priest remake of Diamonds and Rust ( which Rocks like crazy). If you have a problem with that, then I would say you don’t understand the complexity of Gods will, and that He is the source of all beauty. What a beautiful song. Peace Love and Deeper Understanding: )

Some of the most beautiful poetry ever-and some of the rawest emotion I’ve ever heard anyone put into a song for the public to peer into their soul. Amazing song, amazing woman!

A lot of feeling going on in those lyrics. I grew up with the Priest version, but have come to really appreciate this version. Halford sings it, Baez feels it.

It’s like she wrote this for Judas Priest to cover

@kultanen you probably appreciate the newer acoustic Priest version–personally, I like the “old” Priest version, too

@kultanen I’m not a tattooed fellow…..however, I am heavy metal to the core. Favorite bands include Iron Maiden, Dio, Judas Priest, Motorhead, Iced Earth, Metallica…..you know, true metal. I agree with your stance on this song..I love it. And by the way…Rest in Peace Ronnie James Dio.
