Rust Removal From Cement – A Step-by-Step Process Of How To Do It

Rust removal from cement is a task that can’t be easily fulfilled. It is something that requires attention and continuous action to produce results. And apart from that, its process must be properly implemented for its optimum effects to be achieved.

However, those are true only to traditional rust removal from cement. Today, the situation is different. Many rust removal products are now available for a much easier and faster way of getting rid of rust. Though they maybe expensive, their promised results seem to be all worth it.

The downside however is that most of these commercially available rust removal products are chemical-based. This means that the components used to produce them maybe hazardous to your health and the environment. In this case, these rust removal products can become harmful threats instead of being a help.

With the aid of highly developed technology though, natural rust removal products are now made available. Rust removal from cement could never be more safer than using these eco-friendly rust removing solutions. It puts into consideration your need for an effective rust remover while offering a product that protects the environment.

To get the most out of it however, there is a step by step process that must be properly implemented.

    1. First step is to locate the source of the rust stain. It could be your metal furniture, a gutter or your car. Check every possible source of the stain so you can treat that item before going after the stain it had produced over the wall or concrete floor. This will prevent further stains on concrete surfaces.

2.For treating the source of the rust stain, remove as much rust as you possibly can before applying organic rust treatment. You can produce your own by mixing baking soda with water to create a paste or you can squeeze lemon juice or apply an adequate amount of vinegar directly to the rust spot. But if you are always on-the-go and don’t have much time to spare on looking and mixing natural ingredients, you can always choose to just grab a natural rust removal product from a grocery store and readily spray it on the affected area.

3.If you produced your own natural rust remover using baking soda, lemon juice or vinegar, let these natural ingredients sit on the rust spot for a while before scrubbing it off and rinsing. If the rust remains, repeat the process. On the other hand, if you used commercially available natural rust remover, simply follow the instructions on how to use it.

4.Now that you have treated the source of the rust itself, it’s time to work on the rust stain. The natural ingredients mentioned on step 2 can also be used, using the same process, on rust removal from cement and other surfaces. Simply apply the baking soda paste, the lemon juice and the vinegar on the spot and let it stay for some time. After that, scrub and rinse the surface to determine if the process needs to be repeated.

Remove Rust Stains in Your Bathroom

Any metal container inside your bathroom are very much susceptible to corrosion. As we all know, corrosion is a process where in water (or moisture), iron in metal, and oxygen interact together to undergo a chemical reaction whereby rust is form. The resulting product or iron oxide is relatively difficult to remove. Similarly, rust stain removal is also a tough process.

When we take a bath, we all have these metal containers in our bathroom (shaving foam cans, metallic soap dispensers and the like). Since our bathroom is so full of water, moisture is more likely to be retained. When moisture and oxygen are present, corrosion will definitely take place.

The most likely to corrode in our bathroom are shaving foam metal cans. It is really quite unpleasant to see rust stains in our bathroom. The reddish to brownish discoloration that is associated with rust stains are simply unaesthetic. How do you maintain the cleanliness of your bathroom countertop or bath cabinet and remove these stains? Follow these simple steps.

First is to eliminate the source of these stains. Only buy shaving foams which are packaged with a flat plastic lid. Those without a lid may do provided a flat top. These shaving foam cans usually come in metal in order to keep the pressure inside the container well confined. Pressurized container allow for easy dispersal giving you the right consistency (foamy) shaving cream. So never (or seldom) would you find shaving foam containers made of plastic. Be sure to always lay your cans upside down so that the plastic lid will come in contact with your bath counter and thereby reducing the possibilities of staining. The metal may rust, though, but it won’t stain your countertop or your cabinet if placed this way. Voila! You will no longer see stubborn rust on your bath cabinets! You eliminated the source which is the number 1 solution for this problem.

Air fresheners which are usually stored in your bathrooms can also cause this rust staining. One good alternative if you can’t find a can with a plastic lid, you may use any lid from a yogurt container or a potato chip. Just make sure that the lid fits well on your can. Or you can also purchase lids available at your local convenience store. They are more sturdy and they are usually holed. This is much more preferable as this will allow escape of excess moisture and water easily.

If, for some reasons, the stain is already there, then you have no choice but to deal with this using rust removal products. You have to deal with this immediately as you don’t want to wait for it to damage your bathroom items. You may use organic rust removers with the stains for a safer treatment. These products effectively eliminate the stains and they even protect the surface from rust stains. Rust remover products can be purchased online.

Of course, the more effective way of dealing with these rust spots is to maintain a clean bathroom. Always remember to keep your bathroom neat by wiping surfaces which are normally soiled. As much as possible keep your bathrooms moist-free by letting your shower curtains drape (so that they will dry easily), keeping your bathroom doors open every after bath to let water to evaporate (although not completely).Prevention is the answer to any problem anyway!

      Rating:
This stuff is amazing. We went through the first bottle so fast that we just ordered a case (6) of the larger size. Cuts through the rust stains from hard well water keeping fixtures looking like new. I’ve used it on clothes to remove stains that would not budge with bleach or other stain removers – likely these stains were of the same chemistry as rust. Removes the little rusty rings on carpet that are caused by metal floor glides on the feet. I try it on all sorts of stuff now – like Wd-40 only for different stains.

    The Best of Rust Remover

Although various rust remover products are available in the market these days, you can create you own formula at home. Familiarizing yourself with he ingredients you can even find in your kitchen will help you make low cost but effective rust removers.

There are lots of rust remover products available in the market. There are also some common household items you can use to fight rust stains. These items can be used separately or combined so as to make effective, safe rust removers.

    Here are some of them:

    1. Hydrogen Peroxide
    2. Cream of Tartar
    3. Borax
    4. Baking Soda

All these materials can be mixed in order to make a homemade type of “rust remover paste”.

Hence, Baking soda or Borax can be replaced with similar products as well. They mainly add grit to the solution, without causing harm to the surface when it is used.

To make the solution, do the following steps:

1 teaspoon of cream of tartar
1 cup of borax or baking soda
    Hydrogen Peroxide

    • Mixed all the ingredients in order to make a thick paste.

    • Rub the paste onto the rust spot and leave it for 30 minutes. The rust stain should afterwards be wiped away using a damp sponge. If there are still some stains, repeat the process.

    • White vinegar is commonly found at home. It is also a good rust stain remover.

    Procedures:

    - Just spray the mixture directly onto the rust stain and scrub it in.
    - Spray it again with white vinegar and let it stand for 20 to 30 minutes.
    - After doing this, the rust stain should come off easily once the white vinegar is wiped away.

Another homemade rust remover solution includes:

    A cup of borax
    Lemon juice

    • Mix the two ingredients. It will become paste which you can apply directly to the stain.
    • Let it stand for 20 to 30 minutes.
    • Scrub it away afterwards. This is although it may still take a few applications before it will become successful. Thus, this is safe for many surfaces, pets and children.

    Other Rust Remover:

    1. NO-OX-ID METAL CORROSION PROTECTION

This is a rust proofing product that stops rust and blocks corrosion. It forms a barrier coating so as to ensure corrosion protection for severe corrosive and marine environments. The NO-OX-ID anti corrosion coating has Sanchem’s active corrosion inhibitor system. It prevents rust with just one coating application. This is not paint. It is a rust preventive metal treatment that can work in:

    - highly corrosive
    - high humidity and
    - high salt environments

This product is RoHS complient. Sanchem is ISO-9001.

    Features:

    - It requires minimum surface preparation
    - It has a clean environmentally friendly MSDS
    - It does not require curing or drying time
    - It can be applied in any climate
    - It protects pipes and valves against rust and corrosion for years in the most severe environment like:

    a. tidal areas
    b. lock and dams
    c. salt plants
    d. chemical manufacturing plants
    e. pineapple processing plants and
    f. sewerage treatment plant

    - It can be applied onto a wet surface.

    • Submerge a small piece of clean metal onto a small container of water.
    • Dip the other hand in NO-OX-ID.
    • Rub it on the metal while under water. You will then see the excellent bond of the NO-OX-ID onto the metal.

Rust remover products are unique formulas used in eliminating rust stains. It uses oxalic acid. Oxalic acid is not only toxic; it can also wear down a variety of surfaces like:

    - metal and
    - plastic

Hence, rust stains have destructive tendencies. It can cause problems to homes and businesses. Rust stains are reddish brown or dark red in color. You can see it inside pipes. It can also create rusty water stains when water flows. Thus, rust stains can be removed with a little hard work and a rust remover.

    Stain Remover For Upholstery Fabric

Upholsteries are important part of interior. They add value to the design of your home. Therefore, you should always try to keep the upholsteries clean and stainless.

Stained and dirty upholsteries not only look bad but degrade your status. How would you feel when someone offers you a seat which is dirty and stained? Won’t you try to leave the place as early as possible? The same thing happens to your guests. Believe it or not, upholsteries represent your status.

However, some factors often damage your upholstery damaging your interior and social status both. In this article we would discuss five factors that stain your upholstery and then we would see how to clean it.

    Black Molds

Molds are fungi. They grow on moist surfaces and live on dead organic products. Molds are microscopic basically, but when they grow and develop to form colonies, they appear as small black spots on the surface.

Mold stains are tough. You need to use mold stain remover to remove the stain. Natural mold stain removers are good at cleaning yet not harsh on the stained substrate. And green products are safe for health as well.

    Coffee Stains

Coffee stains are very common. Coffee stains are sticky and difficult to remove. Unfortunately it is quite difficult to avoid. Coffee might spill on the upholstery any moment, you never know when the accident will occur and your favorite fabric will get damaged.

Once it happens, drop few drops of water on the spot to dilute it. Then dab detergent and vinegar on the stain. Don’t rub as the stain might spread and become too sticky to get it off.

If you find the blot really tough, apply some dry cleaning agent to eliminate it completely.

    Rust

Rust is the toughest of all sorts of upholstery stains. Your favorite upholstery fabric gets stained when it comes into contact with a rusty metal. Rust cleaners can help you clean the fabric.

It won’t be irrelevant to discuss few words about rust here. Rust is a series of iron oxides and water – porous and reddish brown in color. When iron comes in contact with moisture and oxygen, it gets oxidized and forms rust.

If you touch a rusty tool, the particles slip in to your hand and stain it. Same thing happens with upholstery. If the sofa set, couch or the chair is rusting, chances are the upholstery fabric would get stained soon.

As mentioned before, rust stain is very much sticky and tough. Cleaning with normal detergent won’t be of much help. You need rust stain remover to turn the upholstery in good condition again.

Green cleaning products are good at cleaning rust stain. Natural cleaning products are free from side effects and do not do any harm to the upholstery.

    Pet urine

The next disturbing factor is pet urine. Like most Americans, you must have pets at your home and I am sure you love them. But you never know what they can do to your favorite upholstery; they are animals after all.

There are pet urine cleaners available in the market. These solutions not only clean the stain, but eliminate the bad odor as well.

First, let me say I would actually like to add a few more stars to this review. This product worked better than I had hoped for. My husband had rust stains from his name badge on every one of his white dress shirts required for his job. I tried every spray on, rub on and presoak stain remover I could find including chlorine bleach and nothing removed the stains. After research on the internet I also tried lemon juice, salt and cream of tartar then putting the shirt out in the sun. No luck. The dry cleaner didn’t have any success either. I order this stain remover thinking, “well I am wasting more money”. Not so. I damped the shirt fabric, applied a few drops as instructed and the rust just vanished in a matter of seconds. This inexpensive stain remover saved 6 dress shirt that would have cost us over $100 to replace. If you have rust stain you’ve got to try this, you will be amazed!

We moved into an old house and the water is so hard that our toilets and tubs and sinks have been stained forever. I have scrubbed and scrubbed and nothing has worked and I was getting used to the idea of just having to deal with stains. I found this little tiny bottle of whink rust stain remover that the previous owners had left. It only had a couple drops left so I dumped it in the sink. Within minutes my sink was white as can be, my house finally looks clean again. This stuff is just miraculous. I am off to the store to buy more, I am actually excited and looking forward to cleaning.

I inherited a house and the stain buildup in the bathtub was the stuff horror movies are made of. Nothing worked, until I got this, and the stains came off so easily I’m thoroughly convinced this thing uses voodoo or something. Seriously though, as long as the sink or bathtub is white, this will work. And if it doesn’t, nothing will. Trust me, I’ve tried.
